Thanks to his role as Francis in the film Tom à la ferme, Pierre-Yves Cardinal won the Jutra award for best supporting actor in 2013. He has also been part of the cast of several other films, including Denis Villeneuve's Polytechnique and Dédé à travers les brumes. More recently, he played in the films Sam by Yan England and Au revoir le bonheur by Ken Scott.
On television, he played Jean Béliveau in the series of the same name. He has also appeared in numerous series such as Trop, Nouvelle adresse, L'échappée and Les jeunes loups.
In the theater, he has worked in both French and English, playing classic and contemporary characters. For example, he played Romeo (Romeo and Juliet) and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (Au center du désert) in addition to being in the play Mort accidentelle by François Archambault and Quills directed by Robert Lepage.
